Enhanced Cardiac Access — Same-Day Cardiac Walk-in Care in the Capital Region of New York

Capital Cardiology Associates' Enhanced Cardiac Access (ECA) program provides same-day evaluations for patients experiencing potential cardiac symptoms at three locations across the Capital Region of New York: Albany, Clifton Park, and Niskayuna. No appointment or referral is required. The ECA has been serving the Capital Region since 2014 — celebrating 12 years of innovative cardiac care in 2026.

When It's Your Heart, You Just Can't Wait

If you are experiencing chest pain, shortness of breath, heart palpitations, dizziness, or a rapid heart rate, the Enhanced Cardiac Access walk-in clinic provides rapid same-day evaluation by a board-certified cardiologist — without the wait times of a hospital emergency room.

ECA is designed for patients with both urgent and non-urgent cardiac symptoms who need prompt evaluation without scheduling a traditional appointment. Whether you are concerned about a new symptom or have an ongoing cardiac issue that needs attention, ECA provides a faster path to answers than waiting for a scheduled visit.

If you are experiencing a cardiac emergency, call 911 immediately.

hat Happens at the ECA

When you arrive at an Enhanced Cardiac Access location, you will be taken to an exam room and evaluated by a registered nurse. A board-certified cardiologist will then determine what further testing, if any, is necessary. Because the cardiologist controls the scheduling of diagnostic testing directly, wait times are minimized and a rapid diagnosis and care plan can be achieved.

The amount of time you spend at the ECA will depend on the testing ordered. Some tests take longer than others, and in some cases more than one test may be required.

Following your visit, CCA will notify your primary care physician. The cardiologist who evaluates you will dictate a detailed note, which along with any diagnostic testing reports, will be sent directly to your referring or primary care provider.

Diagnostic Testing Available at ECA

The Enhanced Cardiac Access clinic is equipped to perform a full range of on-site cardiac diagnostic tests, including:

  • Exercise stress test

  • Nuclear stress test

  • Echocardiography

  • CT angiography of the coronary arteries

  • CT angiography of the chest

  • Electrocardiography (EKG)

  • On-site blood testing

What if I Need to Be Hospitalized?

If hospitalization is necessary following your ECA evaluation, CCA will arrange your admission directly. In extreme cases, an ambulance will be called. By using ECA services, patients can avoid an unnecessary trip to the emergency room and be admitted directly to a hospital bed or cardiac catheterization lab as determined by the evaluating cardiologist.

Insurance

The Enhanced Cardiac Access clinic accepts all insurance plans and works directly with your insurance carrier. Your out-of-pocket copay will be the same as a routine office visit. Any diagnostic testing performed will follow your insurance plan's guidelines, including obtaining prior authorization where required.

After Your Visit

If you have questions after leaving the ECA, call 518-292-6090 to speak with a registered nurse who has access to your full records. The nurse is a cardiovascular specialist who works closely with the evaluating cardiologist and can answer your questions during normal business hours. During non-business hours, a cardiologist is always available for consultation.

ECA after-visit hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30am–4:00pm.
