Katie Candeloro, MS, RD, CDN
Katie is a registered dietitian with four years of clinical experience providing medical nutrition therapy at Albany Medical Center Hospital. She joined CCA in 2022 and provides evidence-based individualized nutrition care to improve health outcomes for patients. Katie counsels patients with cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and weight management among other nutrition-related problems. She empowers patients to work towards healthy and sustainable lifestyle changes and improve their well-being.
Katie completed her year-long comprehensive dietetic internship throughout the Capital Region in 2017. She has an MS in Nutrition from Hunter College and a BS in Exercise Science from Manhattan College. Katie is credentialed through the Commission on Dietetic Registration and is also a Certified Dietitian-Nutritionist with the State of New York.

Rachel Kearns, RD
Rachel is a registered dietitian with a two-year clinical background in delivering medical nutrition therapy at Samaritan Hospital in Troy, New York. Joining CCA in 2023, she specializes in counseling patients on cardiovascular disease, diabetes, weight management, and other nutrition-related concerns. Rachel provides individualized consultations and actively contributes to the CCA Enhanced Cardiac Rehab program.
Possessing a BS in human biology from SUNY Albany, Rachel completed her dietetic internship at Russell Sage College in Troy, NY. She is credentialed through the Commission on Dietetic Registration. Outside of her professional commitments, Rachel dedicates her free time to volunteering at a local animal shelter, enjoying outdoor activities, and indulging in her passion for football.

Elizabeth Pilinko, RD
Liz is a registered dietitian who joined CCA in 2023 providing medical nutrition therapy to a wide range of patients including those with cardiovascular disease, weight management, and diabetes among other nutritional concerns. Liz has a passion for health and wellness and aims to guide individuals towards sustainable lifestyle changes to achieve their goals. Liz earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition Science through Russell Sage College in Troy, NY. She went on to complete her comprehensive dietetic internship in 2018 through Aramark Healthcare in the Capital Region. Liz is credentialed through the Commission on Dietetic Registration and is also a Certified Dietitian-Nutritionist with the State of New York.

Amanda Travis, MS, RD, CDN
Amanda is a registered dietitian with experience in providing medical nutrition therapy for patients with a wide range of chronic diseases to help promote healthier lifestyles. Amanda joined CCA in 2021. She completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition Science and her dietetic internship through Russell Sage College in Troy, NY. After passing her credentialing exam, Amanda began a career in clinical nutrition, working in both long-term care and acute care settings. Amanda continued her education by completing her Master’s Degree in Health Services Administration to gain additional experience with program planning in order to be better equipped to create successful programs that promote better nutritional outcomes for patients. Amanda is credentialed through the Commission on Dietetic Registration and is also a Certified Dietitian-Nutritionist with the State of New York.

What is a Registered Dietitian?
A: Registered Dietitian is a food and nutrition expert that has completed a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in an accredited nutrition program, a dietetic internship, and a credentialing exam. A dietitian provides comprehensive medical nutrition therapy (MNT) which is an evidenced based approach to managing and preventing chronic diseases through the analysis of current nutrition habits and creation of individualized nutrition recommendations.

What can I expect from meeting with a registered dietitian?
When meeting with the dietitian you will discuss current dietary habits, diet goals, weight management, exercise and physical activity habits, and much more. The purpose of nutrition counseling is to empower patients to create their own nutrition and health goals and develop an individualized plan to achieve those goals. Examples of topics that can be discussed include: heart health, weight management, cooking/meal preparation tips, health & wellness, and many more!
How can I meet with the dietitian?
Please speak with your doctor to receive a referral for nutrition services or call 518-292-6004 to make an appointment. Initial visits typically take 45 minutes and follow-up appointments are 30 minutes. Appointments are available at 7 Southwoods Boulevard in Albany and 1785 US-9 in Clifton Park, Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM -4:00 PM.
What Should I Bring to My Appointment?
Please bring a list of prescription drugs, over-the-counter medications, vitamins, minerals, and dietary supplements with you to the appointment. It is recommended that patients complete a three-day food record, as found on the website, to better understand current dietary habits however this is not a required step. Patients are also encouraged to bring a list of nutrition questions and any food labels to aid in discussion.
