Murph 2026
This Memorial Day, our team will take on the Murph Challenge at On The Move Fitness in Halfmoon, NY, to raise money for Christopher House, a first-of-its-kind supportive housing program for women veterans in South Troy run by Capital District Women Veterans. It is a day of hard work in honor of those who gave everything, and a chance to do something real for the women veterans in our own backyard.
Honoring Heroes, Strengthening Community: Capital Cardiology Associates Teams Up with On The Move Fitness for the Annual Murph Challenge
Benefiting Christopher House of Troy
Every Memorial Day weekend, Americans pause to honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to this country. At Capital Cardiology Associates, we believe honoring that sacrifice means more than a moment of silence. It means showing up, pushing ourselves, and giving back to the community around us. That's why we are proud to partner with On The Move Fitness in Halfmoon for our Annual Murph Challenge, with all proceeds benefiting Christopher House in Troy, New York.
What Is the Murph Challenge?
The Murph Challenge is one of the most recognized Memorial Day fitness traditions in the country. Named after Navy Lieutenant Michael P. Murphy, a Medal of Honor recipient killed in action in Afghanistan on June 28, 2005, the workout is a tribute to his sacrifice and to all fallen service members.
The challenge consists of a 1-mile run, 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 air squats, and a final 1-mile run. Traditionally completed while wearing a 20-pound weighted vest, the Murph tests mental grit as much as physical endurance. Participants of all fitness levels are welcome. The workout can be scaled and broken up to work for you. What matters most isn't the time on the clock. It's the intention behind every rep.
Why Capital Cardiology Associates Participates
At Capital Cardiology Associates, our mission is to deliver high-quality cardiovascular care to the patients and communities we serve. But good cardiac care doesn't stop at the clinic door.
We believe in the connection between community wellness and individual health. Physical activity, social connection, and a sense of purpose all support a heart-healthy life. The Murph Challenge brings all three together. It pushes our team, builds camaraderie, and channels that energy toward people in our community who need support. Partnering with On The Move Fitness lets us extend that work beyond our walls and into the gym, the neighborhood, and the lives of those we care about.

The Heart of It All: Christopher House, Troy
Every pushup, every pull-up, every mile run goes toward supporting Christopher House, a supportive housing program for women veterans located at 515 First Street in South Troy.
Christopher House is owned and operated by Capital District Women Veterans (CDWV), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. The house itself has deep roots. Built in 1898, it was the family home of COL. Christine Rem's grandparents and remained in the family for nearly a century. It was purchased in 2007 by her husband, MAJ. Christopher Rem, who dreamed of using it to support fellow veterans. After MAJ. Rem passed away while on active duty, COL. Rem donated the property to CDWV in 2015 in his memory. The house now bears his name.
Christopher House provides safe, structured, community-style housing alongside case management services to help women veterans transition back to independent living. It is the first program of its kind in the Capital District.
These are women who served our country. Supporting Christopher House is one concrete way to make sure that service is honored with more than words.
