CCA Gives Back: Caring from the Heart, Strengthening Communities
At Capital Cardiology, our commitment extends far beyond the confines of medical examination rooms. We don't just champion individual health; our unwavering advocacy is dedicated to the overall well-being and vitality of the communities under our care. This dedication finds its embodiment in our CCA Gives Back program.
This year's highlight has been the resounding success of our annual food drive. Led by nurse practitioners Jessica Falco and Jenna Fabozzi, this initiative exceeded all expectations, resulting in the donation of almost 1,000 pounds of food and personal comfort items. These essential items were delivered to those in the Capital Region who need them the most, making a tangible and immediate impact on the lives of community members facing food insecurity.
"CCA's corporate mission is centered on bettering the health of our community, and being a part of the food drive allows CCA to address the needs of those in our community who suffer from food insecurity in the same compassionate manner as we would care for their cardiac needs," emphasizes Dr. Lance Sullenberger, CCA's Chief Operating Officer.
ā€¯Employee engagement and participation in CCA Gives Back has truly been a transformative journey for our team at Capital Cardiology. It's heartening to see individuals, staff, and providers step up with genuine enthusiasm. The program not only fosters a spirit of giving but also cultivates a renewed sense of community for all involved. Through our collective efforts, we're not only supporting each other within our organization but extending a helping hand to those most vulnerable in our communities. CCA Gives Back is proof of the impact we can make when we come together for the greater good." said Patricia Dickson, Director of Operations, who has seen the program grow consistently every year.
Jessica Falco reflects, "It was obvious when I started at CCA what a kind and generous spirit our employees have. The food drive is a long-standing tradition at CCA that stopped when the two previous organizers retired. Bringing it back and expanding it to include some of our other offices and the community over the last several years has been incredible to witness. It was amazing to see people using the QR code for monetary donations, and many patients made a separate trip to donate items. The statistics regarding food insecurity in our area, where 1 in 7 children in the capital region are food insecure, are truly startling. Knowing how big of an impact, not only the amount of food we collected but the monetary donations people made, will make a real difference in our community."
Jenna Fabozzi shares sentiments about the initiative, stating, "Food is a basic human need, yet millions of people struggle with food insecurity every day. I am grateful to be able to help the community struggling to provide a healthy meal for their family. A little bit goes a long way when it comes to food donations!"
Reflecting on the challenges faced in organizing and delivering donations, Fabozzi acknowledges the vital role played by the CCA community. "We hope to continue engaging the patients of CCA in the future. The collection process was a breeze thanks to our generous staff, family, and friends who donated. We might need to rent a truck next year to accommodate the donations since we have grown so much!"
One poignant moment in the initiative was Fabozzi's visit to Capital Roots in Troy, where fresh produce was delivered. "When I arrived at Capital Roots in Troy to drop off the fresh produce, there was an entire crew of people prepping the donations. It was wonderful seeing everyone come together for the local community, knowing that food would help feed families this holiday season!" she remarked.
At Capital Cardiology Associates, we firmly believe that everyone deserves access to nutritious food for optimal heart health.
